Hemingway's Cats Under Federal Fire

You would think that the federal government has enough on its plate other then the cats at Hemmingway’s House in Key West. The claws are out whether or not the 47 cats all descended from Hem’s original cat Snowball should be under federal care. U.S. Animal and Plant Inspection Services argue that as a National Historic Landmark the cats require a Federal Welfare license. According to our guide over $50,000 is spent a year on cat food and a high paid vet is a frequent visitor. I loved the felines on our visit there last spring. To the Feds, clean your plate first, and then worry about the kittys.

Who business is it of yours to put the cats out. They were mentioned in his will, Just like Leona Helmsly. If they wanted their money to go to their pets, that was their perogitive. Some people find animals to be worth a lot more than humans. I second that motion. People can do what they want with their fortunes. No one should dictate to the living or dead how to allocate their money. Trusts are set up for that reason. What good are the lawyers, and why are they getting paid if they can't honor the wishes of their late client?
