Visiting Easy Company in Bastogne Belgium

It was a heart felt moment when I saw the where the boys from Easy Company had their foxholes today in Bastogne. The HBO Show was fantastic in the telling of the story of these heroes during WWII. Bastogne was the last real offensive of the Germans and the battle was hard fought. Henri Mignon our guide gave us detailed info that was amazing. He was a boy when the battle raged but he vividly remembers hard days when German SS troops were billeted in his home. he lost his father and his home in the war.

The city itself has American flags everywhere and the GI is still revered. In the main square is a Sherman Tank named Barracuda that played a big part in the battle. The day made me proud to be American in a way that has been missing lately. Indeed that was a special generation of Americans.
