Back in Budapest, Home at the Andrassy Hotel
It was a pleasant flight to Budapest and American Airlines Business Class updates are great, though again after dinner I fell asleep on the flattened seat. The MaMaison Hotel Andrassy is also guaranteed to please, a five star deluxe located on the Paris like boulevard of the same name. All around it are embassies and green leafy streets and two blocks away is the Heroes Square. During the Communist years the building served as a “Foreign Affairs Hotel” housing guests such as Yeltsin, Brezhnev and Gagarin. Before that it was a home for Jewish orphans and its children were protected by an anti Nazi police battalion, Red Cross and Raoul Wallenberg. It has a special vibe and will make the perfect base in Budapest.
